Day 6: 10th Grade Community Service

Today was the final day of the pre-classes school days. The 10th grade split up and went to three different community service sites. My group went to a park in the Bronx where we were supposed to be painting benches. The rain yesterday meant that we couldn’t do that plan today, so we ended up raking and picking up trash in a picnic area of the park instead.

I really enjoyed getting to spend so much time with my advisees at the start of the year, but I’m also anxious to get into the classroom. I have four new preps in the fall (and two more new preps later in the year). I can’t wait to try out everything that I’ve been planning this summer, to meet the new 9th grade, and to get to the physics (and science, in general)! Next stop, Tuesday—the second first day of school of the year.
